The US Attorney for the Central District of California has filed a sentencing recommendation in the case of US Versus Anthony Farrer.
Mr. Farrer, also known as “The Timepiece Gentleman”, or TPG for short had previously pleaded guilty to a scheme to defraud customers of his luxury watch reselling business. The scheme involved accepting watches on consignment with an agreement to sell them, then failing to remit the proceeds of sales to consignors.
The plea encompasses two of the charged counts; one count of mail fraud and one of wire fraud. The amount of damage to clients is believed to be in the vicinity of $5.7 million.
The sentencing recommendation, known as a “sentencing memorandum” ends with this:
CONCLUSION
For the above reasons, the government respectfully submits that defendant should be sentenced to 70 months in custody, a three-year period of supervised release, payment of a $200 special assessment, and payment of restitution in an amount to be determined later.
Mr. Farrer has been in federal custody since November 7, 2023. Should the judge accept the governments recommendation and with credit for the fourteen months he has been in custody, he’d have 56 months remaining or 4.66 years. His actual time served may be reduced.
Mr. Farrer has also written a letter to the judge, which included the claim that he intends to fully reimburse his victims. It goes on to say he can’t do that while he’s in jail.
